Laura Sullivan Brings Home The Grammy®!!!!

Pianist, composer and recording artist Laura Sullivan’s critically-acclaimed album LOVE’S RIVER took home the Grammy® Award for Best New Age Album at the 56th Annual Grammy® Awards. Sullivan is only the 9th woman nominated as a solo or main artist in the New Age category’s 27-year history. Additionally, LOVE’S RIVER was executive produced and marketed entirely independently by Sullivan with her producer and husband, Eric, from their San Francisco-area home studio and via their label, Sentient Spirit Records. Laura and Eric also enlisted veteran engineer/producer, Starita, on several tracks featuring brass player, Jeff Oster. This year’s New Age category had no lack of amazing work including artists Brian Eno, Kitaro, R. Carlos Nakai & Will Clipman and Peter Kater but, Love’s River received the ultimate recognition by The National Academy Of Recording Arts and Sciences. Congratulations to everyone involved with making this dream come to fruition!

Latin GRAMMY Nominated Song Of The Year!

You may remember posts from months ago about me working on the new Los Amigos Invisibles record “Repeat After Me”.

Well, after debuting in the Top 10 on the Billboard Latin Pop charts earlier this year, “La Que Me Gusta” is nominated for Song Of The Year by The Latin Academy of Record Arts and Sciences….The Latin GRAMMYS! I’m very honored to have been an engineer on this project and look forward to many more!

In The Stu: Rick Rubin’s Shangri La Studio

On a recent trip to LA, Starita paid a visit to one of the most intriguing studios in the business, Shangri La. Shangr La is the private studio of the one and only Rick Rubin and where he’s created some of the most influential records of our time. The studio is all white and packed full of toys including the piano Adele recorded 21 on that Rick produced. The visit was such a treat and let’s just say it may have been a start to many more *wink wink*

Last week guitar slinger Tyler Bryant ripped through the West Coast with his band The Shakedown in support of his new record “Wild Child”. The 12 song rock n’ roll masterpiece reached #3 on the iTunes charts in the first 2 days of it’s debut and “Say A Prayer” was Single Of The Week. Needless to say, this band is kickin’ ass and takin’ names while blazing their way across the country leaving crowds asking “What just happened?!”  The crew teamed up with Starita’s Bay Area Music Collective to track a couple of tunes at San Francisco’s famed Hyde Street Studios while BAMC’s Visual Mastermind Steve Rosenfield captured the magic. The boys all headed up to Sacramento to deliver Harlowe’s one of the best rock shows to date and to participate in Rosenfield’s nationally renowned photo project, What I Be, aimed at helping people find strength in exposing their insecurities.
